Marina Beach:
The second largest beach in the world is Marina, which is situated in the eastern side of Chennai. The sun rise and the sun set from the beach is the awesome experience. In the evenings the beach is fully accumulated with different kinds of entertainment and various food stalls. Though swimming and bathing can become dangerous, it is highly visited for its natural beauty. The memorials of former chief ministers namely Mr. C.N.Annadurai and Mr. M.G.Ramachandran are attracted by many people in the beach. Chennai can be easily reached by bus, train and air. Kaniyakumari Beach:
Kaniyakumari is also called as Cape Comorin. It is one of the multi-hued sand beaches and the southernmost tip of India's land. It is covered by Bay of Bengal in the east side, Arabian Sea in the west side and Indian Ocean in the south side, so it is also called as “Thriveni Sangamam”. Kanyakumari Beach is best known for its sunrise and sunset. Other attractions in this beach are Gandhi Mandapam, Vivekananda Rock and Bhagavathi Amman temple. Vivekananda Rock is present in the midst of the sea which is the memorial of swami Vivekananda. Kanyakumari is not directly connected by airways, but it has well connected facility with Rail and Roadways. The nearby airport is in Thiruvananathapuram which is 80 kms away from Kanyakumari. As it is located near the sea it can be visited all throughout the year but the best time is between October and March
Mahabalipuram Beach:
Mahabalipuram which is also called as Mammalapuram is located in 60 km to the south of Chennai. It is shining on the shores of Bay of Bengal, which was once considered to be the port of Pallavas. It is highly visited for its Sculptural Panels, Caves, Monolithic Rathas (Rathas made from single stone) and Temples of Pallavas. It is connected by air, rail and road networks. The suitable time to visit this place is from October to March
Rameswaram Beach:
Rameswaram is the best known pilgrimage center. It is surrounded by Palk Strait and Gulf of Mannar. Rameswaram has a close relation with epic Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Sri Rama worshiped Lord Siva in Rameswaram before leaving to Sri Lanka in order to rescue his wife from Ravana, by constructing a mythological bridge to Sri Lanka. The most visiting places in Rameswaram are Ramanathaswamy Temple, Agnitheertham and Pamban Bridge above the sea. Rameswaram does not have its own airport but it is highly connected by rail and roadways. The nearby airport is in Madurai which is 152 km away from Rameswaram. Pulicat Beach
Pulicat Beach is situated in the Northern end of Tamil Nadu, which is an ideal picnic spot. Pulicat Lake is very well known for its catamaran ride on the shallow backwaters. Another interesting activity in this place is the Bird Sanctuary. Pulicat Lake is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a piece of land called Pulicat town. Owing to the sea, this lake was turned to a salt water lagoon. It is considered to be the second largest lagoon in India. The lake has a lighthouse in its opposite side.
