1 Rupee = 100 paisa
Notes in use are Rs1,000, 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, and 5
Coins that are in use are Rs5, 2 and 1, and 50, 25 paisa

Note:

Importing and exporting of the local currency is prohibited

Currency Exchange

The currencies can be changed at banks, in airports from authorized money changers, US dollars and Pounds are easily exchangeable. It is illegal to exchange money from unauthorized money changers.
